About this site

Where to drink sake in Europe, and what it is like to work it out for yourself.

Who

Angela Tabak, based in Amsterdam. Still learning about sake, and writing it down while it happens rather than waiting until it sounds authoritative.

How a place gets on the list

We go, we drink something, we photograph the room. Then it goes up, with the date we were there and the date we last checked it. No place appears here from a press release or someone else's list.

What this site does not do

  • No scores. One answer to one question: would I buy it again.
  • No affiliate links. Nothing is sold here and nobody pays to appear.
  • No tasting notes you cannot check. If it tastes of pear, it says pear.

Getting it wrong

Corrections stay on the page, with the date. If something here is wrong, say so and it gets fixed in the open rather than quietly edited away. Everything we have corrected so far.

Before you come in

Are you 18 or over?

This site is about alcohol, so we have to ask. Nothing is sold here and nothing leaves your browser.

No, take me out

No alcohol under 18
